12.6 Perfection by possession

Possession is available as a method of perfection for all types of collateral that can be possessed (intangible collateral such as intellectual property cannot be possessed). It will often not be practical for secured parties to perfect by taking possession of collateral, because the grantor would lose economic use of the collateral.
